When Ziff Davis Publishing decided to target a segment of the
market not well served by the current selection of microcomputer
periodicals, they decided to call their new entrant PC/Computing, An echo of the name of their other publication, PC Magazine, the undisputed market leader.
The reader of PC/Computing is defined as a sophisticated personal computer user who is interested
in general news and trends in addition to the technological aspects
of computing.

To clearly differentiate the new publication, a new logotype with
strong character was needed. Our new masthead communicates a sleek
and distinct technological look befitting the publication. At
the same time, the implied slash offers the magazine art director
the opportunity to jazz up the cover through the use of two different
colors on the logotype. Conceptually, the slash also communicates
the interfacing of hardware and the act of computing.
PC/Computing has become one of the industry's most successful new entries
in recent years.
